As this is the last post of the series on the Rule of Thirds, I wanted to share some photographs taken from our lovely blog readers! Have loved to see the photos being sent in and am impressed with how well you have implemented all we have learnt about the rule of thirds :)

When to Break THE RULE OF THIRDS

Following on from last weeks post, I thought we would continue looking at the rule of thirds, and when to break that rule.
Before, we were using the rule of thirds to make our image aesthetically pleasing to look at as it is a natural balance that we are drawn to. However, there are a few reasons that you would want to break this rule and the first reason is what we will look at today.

Symmetry

If you are looking to create symmetrical images, you are going to want to put the focus right there in the middle! This technique could be used in nature photography, landscape photography and even portrait photography!
Our eyes are also naturally attracted to symmetry as well as the rule of thirds, as they both bring some kind of balance. So depending on the kind of impact you want to make - either 'rule' could be applied.

THE RULE OF THIRDS in landscape photography

Following on from last weeks post, I thought we would continue looking at how the rule of thirds apply to landscape photography.
Using the same grid, we can position the horizon along the horizontal lines of the grid! Which line you choose depends on what you want the focus of the photograph to be on. For example, if you are taking a picture of rolling hills or fields of flowers, the most effective way to position the horizon would be the top horizontal line or the upper third of the picture. If your focus is on a glorious sunset or a city scape with tall buildings, it would be more effective to align the horizon with the bottom horizontal line or in the lower third of the picture.

The Rule of Thirds

The Rule of Thirds is a simple technique used to choose the best way to position your subjects in your photograph. Although you may naturally want to position your subject right in the middle of the frame, it is not always the most effective way!By using the rule of thirds, your photo will become more balanced and pleasing to the eye.

All you have to do is divide your camera frame into 9 squares by placing 2 equally spaced horizontal lines and 2 equally placed vertical lines. The aim is then to place your subject along any of the lines or most effectively where the lines intersect.

Since today is International Happiness Day, I thought I would take a moment to share some of the happiest photos I have taken over the years! :) So enjoy some happy moments, and please do share them with others!

And Let's not forget that wonderfully proud look of the groom waiting for his bride!

One of my favourite wedding moments of all time, when the guys just broke out in song and dance after the ceremony! What a wonderful celebration!

There is so much joy and happiness in a couple celebrating their love together!

Oh how I just love to have fun and act completely silly with families!
